Cameroon senior women’s national team secured a 3-0 on after extra time to see off Uganda in the Second Round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers at the Reunification Stadium, Douala, and booked a place in the Third Round of the qualifiers.
The first leg of the second round tie ended in a 2-0 win for the Crested Queens giving the Indomitable Lionesses a tough task ahead of the return leg.
In the 31st minute, Ajara Nchout Njoya who missed a penalty in the first leg redeemed herself by opening the scoring with a volley inside the box.
Monique Ngock doubled the lead for Cameroon in the 47th minute with a header from a free kick.
With the game tied at 2-2 on aggregate after 90 minutes, extra time was imminent.
Cameroon threw all arsenals forward and were rewarded in the 115th minute when Fellone Meffometou scored the winner after the Ugandan goalkeeper parried the ball to her path.
Cameroon won the game 3-2 on aggregate and will face Nigeria in the third round, a repeat of the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarter-final match where Rasheedat Ajibade scored the winner to ensure Super Falcons qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria eased past Ethiopia 4-0 in Abuja thanks to goals from Uchenna Kanu, Ajibade (brace), and Oshoala to seal a 5-1 win on aggregate.
