Zambo Anguissa featured and lasted the duration as a strong SSL Napoli side completed their preparation matches for the 2025/26 season with a 2-1 win against Greek giants Olympiakos on Thursday evening in Naples.
Matteo Politano and Lorenzo Luca scored for Antonio Conte’s team in either half while the Greek side only replied in additional time through Chiquinho.
Coach Conte picked somewhat his best side for the coming season, including the pair of Kevin De Bryune and Zambo Anguissa in midfield while Romelu Lukaku led the lines in Napoli’s all attacking approach in their seventh pre-season game.
Choices and decisions were made by the Olympiakos technical crew as well in what was their toughest game to prepare for the coming season.
Though it was a balanced game from the beginning, Napoli grew in confidence and became more imposing in midfield. The Napolitanos drew first blood after just 10 minutes into the game through Matteo whose sharp finishing highlighted his readiness for the new season.
From that moment Napoli was fully in control of the game and finally got their second through Lucca in the 52 minute.
Though Coquinho pulled one back late on to ignite a comeback feeling, it finished 2-1 in favour of the Italians.
The results means Napoli won four, lost two and played a draw in their seventh pre-season matches so far.
The Italian champions are thus ready to get their season underway with a trip to Sassuolo and Fiorentina sandwiched by a home game against Cagliari.
Zambo will be counting on his pre-season performances to make a strong start this season.
