Wadi Degla has emerged as Champions of the 2022/2023 Egypt Women’s Premier League after a 1-0 win over Al Gouna.
Second-placed NBE’s 3-2 defeat to Tutanchamun ensured that Wadi Degla defended its title.
Wadi Degla with 50 points and ten points ahead of NBE will represent Egypt at the 2023 UNAF (North Africa) Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Wadi Degla alongside Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and ASFAR FC are the only teams that took part in the first two editions of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Egyptian side hosted the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 where Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies emerged Champions.
It also won the 2022 UNAF Zonal Qualifiers ad crashed out at the group stage of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League without a point in Group B behind Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa, Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria, and TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Wadi Degla’s triumph increased the number of confirmed women’s league Champions to three after Disciples and Afak Relizanne clinched the Madagascar and Algerian league titles.
Afak Relizanne last Friday edged Alger Centre 2-1 to win the LNFF D1 Feminine title with 38 points ahead of Khroub with 35 points.
