Vincent Aboubakar’s great solo goal ensured Beşiktaş finished off with Dynamo Kyiv in the final preliminary rounds of the 2023/24 UEFA Conference League and advanced to the group stage after a 4-2 aggregate win.
While the performance was unconvincing at home, the Black and Whites entered the second-leg game with a 3-2 lead and got the result needed to progress thanks to Aboubakar’s 52nd-minute close-range strike.
Both sides had fought to a stand still after the first 45 minutes, squandering gilt-edge chances till the moment of the Aboubakar magic.
The Indomitable Lions skipper picked the ball on the edge of the area and beat three defenders before directing it to the far post.
The goal energized the host who dominated and could have extended their lead if not for wastefulness in front of goal.
Beşiktaş, the only other team who could have stopped Dynamo Kyiv from reaching the knockout stages did just that.
Aboubakar is his Club’s best scorer in the competition this season with five goals and one assist in six appearances.
Though it may sound suspiciously like kidology, but Aboubakar is proving to be one of Beşiktaş’ best signings of all time.
