The University of Buea emerged champions of the Southwest Regional League, in a competition titled ‘A Basketball Tournament’ held at Buea Mountain Hotel on Saturday 20/04/2024.
The tournament that produced an entertaining basketball had teams from Buea and Limbe. the University of Buea turn up as the champions, triumphing over their opponents and capturing the coveted title.
The tournament kicked off with an intense matchup between Volcanic Warriors Sports and Chariot Basketball Club Buea, which ended in favor of the Chariot basketball team ( 41-22). A dream start of the competition.
The game took a different dimension when the University of Buea faced Kingdom Falls from Limbe. In a dominant performance, the University of Buea secured a commanding victory, outscoring Kingdom Falls by a score of 41-29. Afah Bertrand played a pivotal role, by contributing significantly to the team’s success.
The third game showcased Buea Basketball Team (3BC) against the Seahawks from Limbe. In a tightly contested battle. 3BC emerged as the victors with a narrow three-point difference, prevailing with a final score of 24-21.
Chariot Basketball Team, from Buea, continued their winning streak in the third game against Kingdom Falls. Displaying their dominance on the court, Chariot emerged triumphant with an outstanding score of 36-16, effectively eliminating Kingdom Falls from the tournament.
The subsequent matchup featured a clash between Volcanic Warriorsand 3BC. Once again, 3BC showcase their skills by securing an impressive win with a score of 30-17, firmly establishing themselves as a formidable team.
In a highly competitive sixth game, the University of Buea faced off against the Seahawks. Despite the efforts from the Seahawks, the University of Buea found a way of getting the result with a final score of 39-37, narrowly clinching the win.
The seventh game witnessed Chariot Basketball Team from Buea against the Seahawks from Limbe. Demonstrating their superiority, Chariot outscored the Seahawks with a final score of 29-21, securing another remarkable victory.
In the eighth game, 3BC graciously stepped out, giving the University of Buea an upper hand in the tournament.
The highly anticipated final game pitted Chariot Basketball Team against the University of Buea. Both teams, representing Buea. In a closely contested battle, the University of Buea emerged champions of the tournament by defeating Chariot with a final score of 46-43.
