United FC Ejigbo clinch 2024 Engr David Ayodele Asalu ASLER Football Competition title

The final match of 2024 Engr David Ayodele Asalu ASLER Football Competition took place at Ejigbo Baptist High School Field, Ejigbo, Osun state, with United FC Ejigbo emerging as winners of the competition on Sunday.

United FC Ejigbo edged Murphy FC Ejigbo 1-0 in the grande finale.

Earlier, New Star FC Ejigbo defeated Jakande FC Ejigbo 2-0 in the third place match.

The sponsor of the tournament, Engr David Ayodele Asalu ASLER who lamented the state of facility at the Ejigbo Township stadium promised to make the competition an annual event while pledging to change the state of facility of the township stadium.

“It’s been long that I had wanted to organise this kind of competition,” Asalu told www.kick442.com

“I want to assure football loving people of Ejigbo that we shall be having this kind of competition from time to time.

“I was at the Ejigbo Township stadium for the first time. Honestly, it’s quite unfortunate that as big as this town is we don’t have stadium. When I got there I was surprised.

“Since the inception of this town to the extent that whenever we have a football match, we will have to play at Ejigbo Baptist High School Field. Our township stadium didn’t have a place for spectators to seat for a local government as big as Ejigbo.

“The government can’t do everything but we will still beg the government in power to please remember Ejigbo. At the Township stadium, I almost cried because Ejigbo local government with almost 22 sub towns without a standard stadium.

“The government might no be able to do everything but we can do that as indigene of this place. I want to assure you that I will work on putting in place a standard stands at the Township stadium and a new mower.”

The chairman of the organizing Commitee, Waheed Obe stated the aims and objectives of the tournament.

He said: “It’s all about bringing our people together and display the talents of our youths in Ejigbo local government. This is the first edition of the competition. 32 teams registered before getting to the final. The sponsor who inspected facilities at the Township stadium promised to continue this kind of competition.”
