Stadium revenue disputes are causing friction among football stakeholders in Douala.  Union Sportive de Douala is seeking 70% of the 2,072,000 FCFA generated from their recent match against Dynamo during Matchday 10 of the Elite One Championship.

Les Nassara Kamakai, asserts that they covered the venue costs and are entitled to the full percentage as stipulated by FECAFOOT.

However, this claim has been challenged by the Transitional Committee for Professional Football (CTFP). In a communiqué issued on February 3, the CTFP clarified that Union’s request would only be valid if they had adhered to regulatory deadlines, particularly regarding the payment of stadium rental fees to the National Office of Infrastructure and Sports Equipment (ONIES), which they did not.

The CTFP further stated that FECAFOOT had taken responsibility for the stadium rentals. This amounted to 1,240,000 FCFA as shown on a receipt largely shared on facebook. Consequently, FECAFOOT is entitled to 70% of the revenue, while only 23% goes to the host club.

Additionally, the CTFP expressed disappointment over the lack of cooperation and confrontational attitude displayed by Union Sportive de Douala’s leadership. This situation has led to a regrettable conflict that will be reviewed by FECAFOOT’s relevant authorities.

Union Sportive de Douala has responded to this by asserting that the federation proceeded with the stadium rental process without consulting the team. They noted that they were asked to reimburse 350,000 FCFA, the amounts spent on renting the stadium, which they paid to a number provided by Faustin Mbida, the Secretary General of the CTFP.

The club also stated that they were unaware of the deadlines mentioned by the organizers.

Currently, the total revenue from the match is held at the Gendarmerie Brigade in Bepanda, pending investigation.
