As part of preparations for the UNIFFAC U17 tournament, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s junior national team, the Junior Léopards, had a 1-1 draw against Jeunesse Sportive de Kingasani on Monday the 10th of February 2025.
The match, played in the early hours of the day, saw the Junior Léopards concede an early goal in the 14th minute through Nsikala Lukusa’s impressive free kick. However, the team showed resilience and determination, fighting back to secure a draw in the 80th minute.
The equalizing goal was scored by Exaucé Titi Wazaka, a young talented player from AS Maniema Union. Wazaka’s goal was a magnificent chip, expertly executed after a precise service from David Ndala.
The match was an evaluation test for the Junior Léopards, who are gearing up to participate in the UNIFFAC U17 tournament scheduled to take place in Douala, from February 16 to 28, 2025. The team, led by coach Etienne Dianda, is determined to make a strong impression in the tournament and secure a spot in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this year.
The Junior Léopards’ performance against Jeunesse Sportive de Kingasani was encouraging, and the team is expected to build on this result as they continue their preparations for the UNIFFAC U17 tournament.
