U.S. Open: Enow Boris assist, last duration despite Nashville’s 5-2 comeback win

On form MLS side Nashville FC came from two goals down to beat DC United of Enow Boris by 5-2 this Thursday in the quarter-final of the tLamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at the Geodis Park.

Cameroon international started and took just five minutes to set up Gabriel Pirani to mark a dream start to the contest.

Jack Maher put the ball beyond his own keeper to double the lead for Enow and co on the night.

However, the side on red hot form recovered and made it look like an easy win at the end of it all.

Jonathan Pérez started the comeback when he opened the scoring for the Boys in Gold in the 26th minute to make it 2-1.

The goals then dry for that half as though there were chances to level or extend United’s lead the game remained on the 2-1 score till the interval.

Upon resumption from the pause, Major League Soccer Golden Boot leader and Most Valuable player candidate Sam Surridge drew Nashville even when he converted a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

Surridge put Nashville ahead for good with his second goal in the 72nd minute and first-time 2025 MLS All-Star Andy Najar and defender Walker Zimmerman, who made his first appearance since May 31 after representing the United States Men’s National Team in the Concacaf Gold Cup, added insurance tallies in the 81st and 87th minutes, respectively.

At 5-2 there was no coming back as Nashville cruise to another win which extends their unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions.

The win means the club thus reaches the Semifinals of the cup for the first time in their history.

Nashville SC will know their Open Cup Semifinal opponent on August 13 when the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union make up their Quarterfinal match that was postponed due to inclement weather.

Per the draw hosted after the Round of 16, it was determined the Boys in Gold will host the Philadelphia Union of Olivier Mbaizo or visit Choupo Moting’s New Red Bulls pending the outcome of their match.
