Cameroonian football is facing another crisis following the shocking resignation of Benoît Angbwa as Assistant Secretary General of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
This marks the fifth high-level resignation in three years under Samuel Eto’o’s leadership, raising concerns about the federation’s stability and credibility.
According to reports, Angbwa’s resignation stems from internal disagreements over management and strategy. Sources claim he was increasingly sidelined in decision-making, relegated to figurehead roles despite his experience.
This latest departure adds to the list of Secretary Generals who have left FECAFOOT since Eto’o took over, including Parfait Siki Banlog, Blaise Djounang, Isaac Mandong, and Benjamin Banlock. The timing of Angbwa’s resignation couldn’t be worse, with the Indomitable Lions set to play crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 AFCON.
The crisis at FECAFOOT raises questions about the federation’s ability to provide a long-term vision for Cameroonian football. With the country’s football team facing important matches, the need for stability and effective leadership is more pressing than ever.
