South Korea defeated Copper Queens of Zambia 5-2 in a pre-Women’s World Cup friendly match on Friday.
Cho So-Hyun had given the Koreans the lead in the 23rd minute before goals from Rachael Kundananji and Barbra Banda handed the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) bronze medalist a 2-1 halftime lead.
Lee Geum-Min equalised for the Koreans in the 58th minute before restoring her side’s lead four minutes later.
Two late goals from Cho So-Hyun and Park Eun-Sun completed a 5-2 win for the Asian side.
Both teams will feature at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and are using the game to prepare for the tournament.
Zambia in Group C will face Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan in the group stage of the World Cup.
South Korea on its part will play Germany, Morocco, and Colombia in Group H.
Zambia defeated nine-time African Champions, Nigeria 1-0 to win the bronze medal at last year’s AFCON and will be making its debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
