In a significant move for his career, Cameroonian goalkeeper Simon Ngapandouetnbu has officially joined Nîmes Olympique on loan from Olympique de Marseille.

The 21-year-old will be leaving his formative club to experience a new phase of development in his professional journey.

Ngapandouetnbu has been the third-choice goalkeeper at Marseille, behind Pau Lopez and Ruben Blanco. This loan move to Nîmes Olympique presents an opportunity for the goalkeeper to gain more playing time and continue his progression.

Ngapandouetnbu’s path to this point has been marked by significant milestones. He started his youth career at ASPTT Marseille, later moving to ASML Blancarde before signing his first three-year contract with Marseille. He was then promoted to the Marseille reserves and became the backup keeper for the senior squad.

Internationally, Ngapandouetnbu has represented Cameroon at the youth level. He was part of the Cameroon U17 squad that participated in the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

In September 2022, he received his first call-up to the Cameroon senior national team for a series of friendly matches. He was also included in Cameroon’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as the third-choice goalkeeper.

Nîmes Olympique, known as Nîmes, currently plays in the Championnat National, the third tier of French football. Their home stadium is the Stades des Antonins.

Founded in 1937, Nîmes has had remarkable performances over the years, including a 1-0 victory over Bordeaux in the 2022 season. In the 2022-2023 Ligue 2 season, Nîmes finished second from the bottom and were relegated to the Championnat National.

This loan move to Nîmes Olympique will provide Ngapandouetnbu with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in his professional career. By participating in the French third division with Nîmes, the young goalkeeper will have the chance to showcase his skills and continue his development.
