Senegal’s women’s national team sealed a place in the second round of 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers after a 2-1 victory against Mozambique.
The first leg of the first round of the qualifiers ended in a 1-1 draw in Senegal with Mozambique getting an away goal.
Undaunted by the away goal, the host broke the deadlock in the 11th minute thanks to a goal from Lucia Moçambique.
The West African side had to come from a goal down and responded four minutes later with the equaliser by Mama Diop.
As the game nears extra time and possible penalties, Senegal scored the winning goal with five minutes before the end of the game from Nguenar Ndiaye.
The win sealed a 3-2 win on aggregate for Senegal and confirmed a second round clash with Egypt in November.
The winner of the two legged second round clash will qualify for Morocco 2024 WAFCON.
