Cameroon international Georges Kevin Nkoudou Mbida scored twice this Friday to helped his Saudi Arabia Pro League club FC Damac sink Christian Bassogog’s Al Akhdoud 3-0.
Nkoudou who is fresh from a dissapointing international break with his country sent a strong message to coach Mark Brys as head stood out in the game Bassogog failed to create an impact though he was a starter for country on Tuesday.
Struggling Al Akhdoud were hoping to take advantage of the difficult start of the season faced by their host but the ghost of poor defending that has hunted them since the start of the season quickly resurfaced.
The game was decided in under half hour of kickoff with Nkoudou playing a telling role. Hussain Al Zabdani beat his own keeper six minutes after the start of the game, before Nkoudou made it 2-0 after 12 minutes. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward dispatched a 28 minutes penalty.
The host held the advantage till the interval but were made to sweet in the final 19 minutes after Zimbabwe’s Knowledge Musona pulled one back deep into the second segment.
The goal mouth moments in the closing phase of the game proved furtile as coach Cosmin Contra’s men held on to secure all three points.
Nkoudou’s brace is his first of the season and leaves his goal tally so far on two goals in three matches.
Damac move up to the tenth spot with the result while Al Akhdoud sinks deeper into the bottom of the table.
