Sable of Batie are through to the final of the 2024 West Regional League of the Cameroon Football federation (FECAFOOT). The Sand Sand boys secured qualification for the final this Saturday following a comfortable 3-0 win against Federal FC of Noun, courtesy a brace from Philomon Barba Waré and a goal from Francky Fotie.
Fotie and Barba were at their best from the start of the game as Sable took advantage of the the logistics challenges that bedeviled Federal to quickly put the game to bed.
The Federal delegation that had an amazing run in the competition all season experienced their most difficult afternoon of all.
Having arrived the Bamendzi stadium just few minutes before the scheduled kick-off time, Federal didn’t go through the complete pre-match routines and it manifested on them.
Fotie put Sable ahead after just four minutes of the start whistle before Baba made it 2-0 after 17. It took just five minutes for Baba to complete his brace and make it 3-0.
With the result almost sealed in the opening 22 minutes and having played a draw and lost to the same opponent earlier in the season, Sable sat back and sucked up pressure from Federal that barely tested their opponents.
Coach Pane Germain’s team spark jubilant scenes for their fans as they reached the regional championship final. Few hours later, it was confirmed Sable will square up against last season’s champions Volcan of Noun in a mouthwatering fixture next Sunday in Baffoussam.
The champions of the West Regional championship will represent the region at the ten-club national interpools scheduled for next month.
