Though they Blondy conceded the lone goal of the game and they suffered a defeat, coach Régis Le Bris was repayed for his confidence on the Cameroon international as he asserted himself during his over an hour stay on the pitch. Beyong making saves, he commanded his backline and was present for aerial balls, plus showed very good distribution skills on the day.

Blondy who joined The Black Cats from Sunderland in 2024 after loan spells at Southend United and Crawley Town will be hoping for more pre-season minutes so as to enhance his chances of being a regular for the Premier League newcomers.

Should Blondy stay at Sunderland, and play in the Premier League, he will join his compatriot Andre Onana of Manchester United as the only two Cameroonian goalkeepers to play in the League for the same season.
