Phoenix Rising FC is pleased to announce that Cameroon midfielder Jean-Eric Moursou has signed a loan deal with the club from Valenciennes FC of the French Championnat National, pending league and federation approval.
Born in the North Region of Cameroon, the 20-year-old midfielder made his professional debut in 2020 for Coton Sport FC de Garoua. During his time with Coton Sport, Moursou made 25 appearances before joining Valenciennes FC in France in 2023. His exceptional skills have seen him participate in 41 matches across four French competitions, including the Coupe de France, Ligue 2, and Championnat National.
At just 16, Moursou became the youngest player to be selected for an interclub competition in the history of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He had a breakthrough season in the 2021-2022 CAF campaign, playing over 700 minutes. In November 2023, Moursou received his first international call-up to Cameroon for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“Moursou will bring toughness, but he’s also someone who can play with the ball,” said Rising FC Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah. “He’s a midfielder who can do a great job both on and off the ball. He’s young, hungry, and definitely sees our club as an opportunity to elevate himself and hopefully move on.”
“After talking with Coach Kah, I knew I wanted to be involved in the Phoenix Rising FC project,” Moursou said. “It’s a good project for me, for my progress in my football career, and Rising is a good club.”
