Defending champions of Cameroon Cotonsport of Garoua have completed formalities for the signing of experienced Cameroonian defender Patrick Etoga Atchom from rivals Eding Sport de la Lekie.

The 29-year-old former Istanbuluspor sweeper has joined the Garoua outfit on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Etoga who spent last season at Eding Sport de la Lekie has completed all formalities to seal the move and has been registered in the Club’s squad for the 2023/24 CAF Champions League season.

The robust center-back who can also play as a full-back is a direct replacement for Che Malone Fondoh Junior who left the Ngaldjibe last month to join Simba SC.

Etoga is expected to wear the number 5 jersey at Coton and forms part of the over ten new reinforcements expected to be unveiled this weekend in Garoua.

Besides Istanbuluspor, he has also played for Turkish sides Muglaspor, Fethiyespor, Ergene Velimese, Cerkezkoy 1911 amongst other clubs.

Though they are yet to be unveiled, Etoga and the other new players have begun training under new French coach Daniel Breard.

Cotonsport get their season underway later this month when they face AS Real Bamako in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League in a two-legged tie.
