Trabzonspor moved within three points of second-placed Fenerbahçe after securing a 3–1 away victory over Kayserispor at the Kadir Has Stadium, thanks to a brace from Paul Onuachu and an outstanding performance from goalkeeper André Onana.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper played a decisive role in the victory, producing seven crucial saves to keep Kayserispor at bay and ensure Trabzonspor maintained control of the contest despite late pressure from the hosts.

The match tilted in Trabzonspor’s favour early when Kayserispor were reduced to ten men in the 8th minute, following a straight red card to Dorukhan Toköz.

Trabzonspor capitalised on the numerical advantage late in the first half. In first-half stoppage time (45+2’), Paul Onuachu opened the scoring with a powerful header from a cross delivered by Wagner Pina, putting the visitors ahead.

Just minutes later, the Nigerian striker doubled the lead. Onuachu converted a penalty in the 45+7th minute, calmly sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2–0 at halftime and complete his brace.

The visitors extended their lead early in the second half when Kayserispor goalkeeper Bilal Bayazıt scored an unfortunate own goal in the 53rd minute, giving Trabzonspor a commanding 3–0 advantage.

Kayserispor eventually found a response in the 83rd minute, with German Onugkha finishing from close range after being set up by Miguel Cardoso to reduce the deficit to 3–1.

The home side pushed forward in the closing stages, but Onana’s commanding display ensured Trabzonspor saw out the match comfortably. The Cameroonian international denied several attempts with key saves to protect the lead.

Tempers flared late in the match, with Bilal Bayazıt (90+2’) and Joshua Brenet (90+5’) both receiving yellow cards for Kayserispor.

The victory lifts Trabzonspor to 54 points, leaving them three points behind second-placed Fenerbahçe and seven points adrift of league leaders Galatasaray, with nine matches remaining in the Turkish Süper Lig season.

With momentum building, Trabzonspor remain firmly in the race near the top of the table as the title battle enters its decisive phase
