Michael Olunga headlines Kenya’s 28-man squad as they prepare for a pivotal double-header against Cameroon in the AFCON qualifiers this October.

Coach Engin Firat unveiled the roster on October 2, welcoming back captain Olunga, who missed the previous qualifiers due to injury. The squad showcases a strategic mix of binational and domestic talent, with many familiar faces retained from the last campaign.

Danish right-back Daniel Anyembe returns after being absent for personal reasons during the last qualifiers. With ten appearances, one goal, and two assists to his name, Anyembe is set to reinforce the Harambee Stars’ defensive line.

In the attacking department, FK Bryne’s Alfred Scriven gets another opportunity to shine after receiving his first call-up in March 2023. The forward, who has netted nearly six goals this season, aims to make a significant impact alongside fellow forwards Collins Shichenje, Ulinzi Stars’ Boniface Muchiri, and Sydney Lokale.

The domestic contingent is spearheaded by a strong Gor Mahia quintet: Sylvester Owino, Alphonce Omija, Geoffrey Ochieng, Ronney Onyango, and Austine Odhiambo.

The team will kick off their residential training camp on October 4. The first leg of the double-header is set for October 11 at Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, followed by the return leg on October 14 at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda. Notably, the second match in Kampala will be played behind closed doors.
