Heartland Queens have drawn former champions, Nasarawa Amazons in NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs matchday 1 on Saturday, May 18 at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa at 12 noon.
The draw ceremony was held on Friday, May 18 at the conference room of Tulips Hotels in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
First match of day 1 will be between Confluence Queens and Edo Queens while the last day match will see the multiple champions, Rivers Angels and Africa’s third best club side, Bayelsa Queens take to the turf at 2pm.
The teams will observe Sunday as rest day while actions continue on Monday when Heartland Queens will take on another familiar rival Kogi Confluence Queens at 2pm.
On Wednesday 22nd, the Owerri Landladies will square up with Edo Queens at 2pm and then tackle host club Bayelsa Queens on Friday 24th May.
The final game will be against Rivers Angels in a yet to be disclosed venue and time on Sunday 26th May.
The format is round robin which will see each team play five matches and at the end of the day the team with the highest number of points will be crowned champions and handed the ticket to represent Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League though going through sub-regional playoffs to qualify for the continent proper.
Two teams, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens actually played in the first and second editions of the yearly football showpiece while the reigning champions, Delta Queens could not proceed beyond the WAFU zone B stage.
