Nkam Elvis still missing after earthquake in Turkey

2021 Best player of Cameroon Amputee football league Nkam Elvis a.k.a “Vishow” is still trapped in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria Monday February 6, 2022.

According to a statement from the his club MALATYA BÜYÜKSEHIR BELEDiYESPOR KULÜP BASKANLIGI social media handle, the hotel whereby the club was lodged ahead of a game in the Turkish Amputee league was greatly affected.

“Our hotel, where our volleyball and amputee athletes stayed, was unfortunately destroyed in the earthquake and our athletes are under fire. From the first hours, the work continues without interruption. Our 3 athletes, Mustafa, Berk and Enes, were taken out in good health.”

“Efforts to save 10 of our athletes, Mehmet Can, Gorkem, Tunahan, Resul, Murat, Emircan, Mehti, Reza, Hamed and Elvis, continue under the wreckage.” It added.

Since the incident occurred, all efforts from the officials of Cameroon Amputee Football CAMPUTEE to get an official statement is yet to be responded and the club is yet to make an official statement on the how far of the players trapped in the rubble.

According to reports, over 6,200 persons have died and thousands affected.

Nkam Elvis joined Turkish side MALATYA BÜYÜKSEHIR BELEDiYESPOR KULÜP BASKANLIGI in the month of December and has found the back of the net once.

The prolific right footed attacker who masters the rules of Amputee football and an apt goalscoring poacher joint the Turkish side from North West based amputee football
club Abakwa Boys AFC and was vice top goalscorer of the league.

Before leaving Cameroon, Vishow helped Abakwa Boys emerged as champions of the maiden edition of the Amputee Football League 2021 scoring over five goals behind top goal scorer Ndifor Joel, while serving as captain.

He constituted the first ever delegation of amputee football players that went to Angola in 2019 for the African Amputee Football League. He also featured for the 2022 Amputee AFCON in Tanzania though the team failed to qualify for the World Cup staged in Turkey.
