The international friendly double-header between Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses and Nigeria’s Super Falcons concluded in Yaoundé with both sides claiming a victory apiece.

Cameroon drew first blood in the opening encounter on Saturday, February 28, thanks to a dramatic last-minute strike from Yvanna Mbomozomo, securing a narrow win at the Military Stadium.

However, in the second leg played on Tuesday, March 4 at the same venue, the Super Falcons responded emphatically with a 3–1 victory over coach Josephine Mike Ndoumou’s side to restore parity in the series.

Much like in the first meeting, Cameroon started brightly, showing urgency and attacking intent from the blast of the whistle. Their early dominance paid off just seven minutes into the game when Kiki Meva found the back of the net to give the Lionesses the lead.

Nigeria, determined to reassert their continental dominance, stepped up their intensity — particularly with Chiamaka Nnadozie commanding the goal. The Falcons gradually grew into the contest and found their equalizer 25 minutes after Cameroon’s opener. Michelle Alozie leveled the score following sustained pressure in the final third.

The momentum shifted firmly in Nigeria’s favor when the ball was worked down the left flank to Babajide Omorinsola. She advanced purposefully, cut inside into Ange Bawou’s box, and calmly slotted home to give the visitors the advantage.

Nigeria sealed the victory just before full time when Ihezuo Chiwendu finished off a well-executed pass, leaving Abumba Clarisse and her defensive line helpless as the Falcons wrapped up a deserved win.

The two friendly encounters served as crucial preparation for both sides ahead of the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
