PWD’s giant striker Ndiforchu Blaise Fuh won all three points on Sunday for the Abakwa Boys as he got their winner in their clash against ASÂ Fortuna through a second penalty.
The striker who returned from the team after missing the 0-2 defeat against Dynamo brought more for coach Dieudonne Nke’s PWD as he stretch the visitors backline all afternoon and ended up being the match winner.
Blaise, scorer the goal that got the club’s only other victory of the season, against Bamboutos FC took his season tally to two.
The Abakwa Boys had registered only one win in their opening three games but saw this as a big chance to get the second, especially after Fortuna lost 3-0 in their previous outing.
PWD’s 4-3-3 approach and the return of Nyaba Bryan and Berunyuy Derick in defence improved their chances of getting the result.
Fortuna took the game to the hosts from the start but the Abakwa Boys didn’t crumble other the pressure. They enjoyed their fair share of the game when they were in control until the breakthrough moment.
Referee Foudouop Yannick was left with no other option when the Fortuna backline fumbled and committed to a challenge worthy of a penalty. Blaise took and beat Fansu Ismael from the efforts to make it 1-0.
Though Fortuna pushed to get the equalizer, it wasn’t to be as the 2020 champions held on for goalkeeper Saliou Ahmada to record his third clean sheet so far this season.
The win takes PWD’s points tally to seven from four games while Fortuna register back-to-back loses for the first time this season and extend their winless run to three games.
Both clubs have deserved breather to put themselves together before resumption of the season on November 5 with tricky fixtures.
