PWD of Bamenda’s winning streak came to an end over the weekend, falling to newly promoted Unisport of Bafang by a goal to nil at the Bafang Municipal Stadium.
Dylan Mbappe scored for Unisport on the stroke of halftime and despite PWD taking possession of the game, they couldn’t break the resilient defence of the host. The Abakwa boys were on Saturday looking for their fourth straight consecutive win of the campaign.
On Sunday, the Bamedzi stadium in Baffousam played host to Aigle Royal of Menoua and stade renard of melong, which saw six goals wrap up the encounter. Both teams got three goals each to share the spoils, with Aigle Royal of Menoua throwing away a two goal lead following the resilience nature of their visitor, who got the equalilizer in the 87th minutes of play to level scores. The draw now sees Aigle Royal of Menoua accumulate just one win in six games while stade renard of melong is yet to record a victory in the same number of games.
At the Melong stadium, Aigle Royal of Menoua hosted Limbe based side, Victoria United who before the game has just two wins in five games. Opopo however left their mark in Melong, getting their first away victory thanks to a 1-0 win, making it a second consecutive win.
Defending champions, Colombe sportive of Dja and Lobo won away from home at the Badjoun stadium against Panthere Sportive of Nde 1-0, recording their second win of the season after going two games without a win, and their recent victory has subjected Panthere Sportive of Nde to a third consecutive defeat which could have been avoided if they had converted a penalty awarded to them in the 62nd minute of play.
Canon sportive of Yaounde registered a second win in three games, defeating an inform Dynamo of Douala who were the host, by 2 goals to 0. Dynamo had gone two games unbeaten before meeting the kpakum boys, and their recent loss sees them occupy the 5th spot with 10 points.
Coton sport of Garoua ends Matchday six the only unbeaten team so far, following their 5-1 thrashing of AS fortuna of Mfou last Wednesday and currently occupies 3rd position with 12 points and their rival, Gazelle FA of Garoua at the end of the same Matchday, occupies the top of the MTN Elite One standing with 13 points, same as Unisport of Bafang, but separated by goal difference.
