Mouhaman Halilou has officially signed a three-year contract with RWD Molenbeek, a team competing in Belgium’s second division. The announcement was made on Thursday, August 8, 2024, through the club’s social media channels.

Upon his capture, the club posted on Facebook;

“Mouhaman Halilou joins RWDM for three seasons from the Brasseries Elite Football Academy of Cameroon. Welcome, Mouhaman 🇨🇲!”

In his remarks, Halilou expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play in Europe and to join a club with such ambitious goals. “I want to thank RWD Molenbeek for giving me this opportunity. I am convinced that together we can achieve great things,” he stated.

The 19-year-old defender, who stands at 1.85 meters and weighs 80 kg, previously showcased his talent at the École de Football des Boissons du Cameroun. His standout performances there caught the attention of scouts, leading to this promising opportunity in Belgium’s second division.

During his time in Cameroon, Halilou developed a reputation as a formidable presence in defense, demonstrating excellent aerial ability and tactical awareness. His former club, École de Football des Boissons du Cameroun, congratulated him on his new venture, stating:

“Mouhaman Halilou, a strong left-back and central defender of the 2005 Generation of EFBC, has officially signed with the Belgian club Molenbeek, which aims to rejoin the Jupiler League immediately. The trainees and staff of the Elite du Football des Boissons du Cameroun wish you success in this new chapter of your football career.”

At Molenbeek, the former Cameroon U-17 and current U-20 international is expected to bolster the team’s backline significantly.

His physical attributes and experience gained in Cameroon will be crucial as Molenbeek targets promotion to the Belgian Pro League by the 2025-2026 season.

The Belgian second division is set to kick off on August 16, 2024, and will run until April 20, 2025.

The season features a total of 16 teams vying for promotion to the higher tiers of Belgian football.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Halilou’s contributions, hoping his skills will help solidify the defense and support the club’s ambitions in the coming years.
