Mbeng Joel Acho has won the prestigious ISOHSA Player of the Month award for January 2025 following his stellar performances against Fovu of Baham, Union Sportif of Abong Mbang and Aigle Royal of Menoua.
It is the first time in his career that the former Cameroon U-17 international of the generation of Carlos Baleba is winning the award after starting all games so far for his club.
The 20-year-old right-back was one of the most outstanding player for his club as they recorded wins against Fovu, Djiko and a draw against Eding Sport in the course of the month.
The win means Mbeng takes over from Jean Pierre Lemo Junior who won the award last month after a strong start to his ISOHSA career.
“It’s a proud moment,” Mbeng Joel said. “We’ve had a good month as a team.
“There were many players that were up for it so it’s an honour to be the one that won it.”
The right-back played all five matches as the leaders improve on their standings to go a points clear from Bafmeng United FA with a tally of 13 points.
He also helped the Royal Elephants maintain their unbeaten run at home but perhaps his best performance came away to Union Sportif of Abong Mbang and Fovu of Baham against whom he came close to scoring.
In a related development, Randy Nji Che won the save of the month for the second month running while Richard Samekomba’s goal against Fovu of Baham was voted the goal of the month of month.
