Cameroon’s U18 women basketball team faced a tough defeat against defending champions Mali, who delivered a stunning 103-45 blowout in the semi-finals of the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket.
The match, played this Friday , showcased the impressive talents of Mali’s Sidik Doumbia and Oummou Kounare, who combined for an astounding 48 points. Mali wasted no time establishing dominance, jumping to a quick 7-0 lead with a series of layups, steals, and a three-pointer from Berthe Rokiatou, prompting an early timeout from Cameroon.
Damaris Emedie finally put Cameroon on the scoreboard with a free throw, narrowing the gap to 7-2. However, Mali responded swiftly, extending their lead to 15-4 just four minutes into the game. Cameroon will play Uganda in the third place match this Saturday.
