Coach Jean Joseph Ngoma ot Gabon has named a 20-players squad dominated by players from the popular Makaye Na Ngome Football Academy as they prepare to fly to Cameroon for the Union of Central African Football Federation (UNIFFAC) tournament billed for February 14.
The squad released this Monday, February 10 counts eight players from the popular Makaye Na Ngome Football Academy. Goalkeepers Ebouzangoye Laurel, Nzegone Mavotchy are part of the contingent from the Libreville facility, alongside defenders Diel Mike Mbadinda, Ghanga Ghanga, Prunel Mounoutchy plus midfielders Bounghe Bounghe Henri-Junior, Noguy Nlemadielemane and Ozimo Oumar Romaine.
The rest of the squad has been picked from other institutions across the country with the likes of ACS, International Libreville, CFOCM all represented.
The team is expected to arrive in Cameroon on Wednesday and directly move to their base after completing the MRI testing exercise which clears players for the tournament starting this February 14.
Going by the present configuration of the competition, Gabon will be on standby on match day one but get their competition going against Congo Republic on February 19 before facing Cameroon and CAR later in the tournament.
The best two nations at the end of the tournament will qualify for the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled later this year in Morocco.
Gabon is hoping to finish in the top two of the zonal tournament to progress to the AFCON for the first time in ten years as their last appearance was in 2015 as hosts of the competition.
