Rennes’ forward Karl Toko Ekambi will miss their away clash against parent club Olympic of Lyonnaise this Sunday due to a restriction clause involved in their loan contract.

Rennes have beating Lyon in their last three Ligue 1 matches but the latter have lost only one of their last 10 Ligue 1 matches

This was to prevent an unpleasant surprise from the Cameroonian when they meet in any competition this season as the aggrement stipulates till the end of his contract.

Ekambi, 30, is on loan to Rennes until June 2024 and so, he will watch the match day 30 Ligue 1 clash from the stands at the Groupama Stadium.

As if Lyon had sensed it, Ekambi has been very engaged since he moved to rivals, Rennes since January 26 this year.

Upon arrival, the Indomitable Lion helped Rennes end a 35-game unbeaten run at home for almost two-years, courtesy of his opening goal in a 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain(PSG).

He last played on April 1, in their 0-1 loss to Lens at home.

Rennes have beaten Lyon in their last three meetings but, the latter has lost only one of their last ten Ligue 1 games but won just two at home.

The game kick-starts at 12 noon between 9th place Lyon and 6th place Rennes. The visitors are on 50points, six points away from host.
