Lekie Filles FC is set to commence their preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League with a training camp in Yaoundé, starting Tuesday August 6.

The team’s journey kicks off on August 19 when they face Atlético Femenino Malabo from Equatorial Guinea in the UNIFFAC zonal qualifiers, hosted in Kinshasa, DR Congo.

Coached by Stéphane Ndzana, Lekie Filles FC is making its debut in the continental competition after a successful 2023 season, where they clinched both the league title and the Cup of Cameroon. The team is eager to build on this momentum as they prepare for the challenges ahead.

Following their opener against Atlético Femenino Malabo, Lekie Filles will face tough competition in the group stage, including CSM Diables Noirs from Congo on August 21 and the well-established TP Mazembe from DR Congo on August 23. Both matches will be critical as the team seeks to secure a spot in the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League.

However, a significant challenge for Lekie Filles will be the absence of Tabe Branda, a key player and top scorer for the past two seasons, who has joined Athlone FC in Ireland.

Sensational Cameroonian forward, Tabe Brenda Ebika has completed a switch from Lekie Filles FC to Irish top-flight championship outfit, Athlone Town FC on a one-year-contract, the purchasing club announced

Her scoring ability and experience will be sorely missed as the team strives for success in the tournament. The coaching staff will need to find ways to fill this gap and rally the squad to perform at their best in Brenda’s absence.

They have made a number of additions to the squad which we will detail on in the days ahead.

As the team prepares for this important phase, they remain focused and determined to make their mark on the continental stage, that too in honor of their late President, Nkoa Luc who died in June.
