Legend Academy’s winger, Abang Ncha, has been summoned to join the U17 Women’s National Team camp in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers.

The teenage prodigy from Kumba has earned her first call-up after two stellar years with the regional side.

Ncha, hailing from Mamfe, has had two stints with Legend Academy, playing a pivotal role in their quarterfinal runs in both the Women’s Cup of Cameroon and the National Interpools.

Known as “Haaland” for her power, speed, and drive, she has netted nine goals and provided crucial assists for Legend.

Her impressive performances have made her part of a growing contingent of players from Legend receiving national team recognition. If retained, she will be among the few to achieve this milestone.

Ncha’s call-up highlights the potential of women’s football in the Southwest region, which faces challenges due to a lack of teams and an almost non-existent league structure.

The last women’s league season took place in 2023; however, plans are underway to revitalize competition for the 2024/2025 season.
