Sensational club Zanaco have completed the signing 25-year-old poacher, Lambert Araina for a period of two seasons for a undisclosed fee.

The Cameroonian international completed formalities earlier this week and was signed this Thursday, close to two weeks after first attempts to sign him failed.

Araina joins the club as a free agent, given that he was unattached after a season with Iraqi top-flight side, Karbala SC.

The 6 foot 1 center forward banged in seven goals and assisted three times for Karbala SC, before leaving the club at the end of his contract.

Upon return to the country, the former Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahli target decided to take up a new challenge in Zambia with Zanaco, despite several deals on the plate in North Africa.

For starters, Lambert received his first call-up with the Cameroon men’s senior national team on September 21, 2021, during the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup against Mozambique.

A mythical club in Zambia, Zanaco has fallen well below their usual standards and look to build a team that will compete this 2024/25 season.

Zanaco Football Club finished 8th last season on 43 points, a massive 28 points behind eventual winners Red Arrows.

With a natural desire to compete for positions in interclub positions and possibly titles, the deal is huge, as sensational Zanaco looks to win an 8th Zambian league title.

A towering figure, Araina captivated fans whilst at Cotonsport with his dedication and clinical finishing.

From local pitches to CAF champions League and Confederations cup glory, he etched his name in Cameroon’s football history when he forced Cotonport’s legendary top scorer and Niger forward, Daouda Kamilou to retirement.

While Araina’s on-field persona exudes strength and power, he possesses a gentle side that often goes unnoticed, hence the reason why he was transfered from Cotonsport to FAR, under the recommendations of 2017 AFCON winning coach, Sven Vandenbroeck.
