Kwara United secured a crucial away point against Kano Pillars with a 1-1 draw at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina during matchday 8 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Harmony Boys dominated possession from the outset, with Akanni Akeem and Shola AbdulRaheem controlling the midfield, while Anthony Anioke and Yahaya Ibrahim anchored the defense.

Despite a goalless first half, Kwara United showed no deference to former Super Eagles players Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi, now playing for Kano Pillars. Kwara United took the lead in the 59th minute through Issa Gatta, shocking the home fans, especially given Pillars’ strong performance against Rangers International in their previous match.

However, Mohammed Zulikifulu equalized for Kano Pillars in the 65th minute. Despite Pillars’ attempts to grab a winner, Kwara United’s goalkeeper Nurudeen Badmus made several crucial saves, assisted by a solid defense led by Ibrahim, Anioke, and Kabir Muhammed.

After the match, Kwara United’s coach, Tunde Sanni, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance but lamented a lapse in concentration that cost them all three points.

He vowed to continue building on this progress as the team heads to Maiduguri for their next game.

Kano Pillars’ coach, Ahmed Yaro Yaro, praised Kwara United’s strong midfield and admitted that a defensive lapse led to the draw. He promised a stronger performance in future matches.
