Former Best Stars Academy of Limbe forward Kinde Leonard was the hero this Thursday as he scored the lone goal to ensure Panthere of Nde edge impressive Apejes of Mfou in a tight Cup of Cameroon semi-final clash.

The tense contest at the FECAFOOT technical center in Odza lived up to its billing and was decided by the 23rd minute moment when the Referee Ndanga Mundi pointed to the spot to award a penalty to the Nzui Manto for Kinde to make the difference.

Kinde wrong-footed the Apejes goalie and from then on Panthere had something to hold onto.

2016 cup of Cameroon winners, APEJES didn’t slow down after conceding, they pressed and put Panthere on the back foot, multiplying offensive moves through Noh Nafeng and co, but on almost all occassions the Bertin Ngeumaleu led defense stood tall.

Apejes’ push for the equalizer was dwindled in the 76th minute when Ottou Simon was sent off following a second booking by Ndanga Moundi.

APEJES had a pair of penalty shouts waved by the match officials who were having a very demanding day.

Despite the personnel and tactical adjustments on both sides, the scoreline remained unchanged as two-time Cup winners Panthere held on to secure a semi-final spot in the cup for the first time since 2019.

Panthere will face Canon Yaounde in the semi-final of the Cup this weekend while Colombe that made light work of Mintack of Septatrion will square up against Atlantic of Kribi in a South Region derby.
