Union de Douala’s goalkeeper, Kybien Patrick, has issued a legal ultimatum to the club, demanding the payment of 1,558,500 CFA francs within 48 hours.

The former Bamboutos of Mbouda shot-stopper, who signed a two-year deal with Union de Douala this season, has yet to make his debut after four match days.

The exact breakdown of the amount remains unclear, but reports suggest that Union Sportive has failed to pay players their signing bonuses and complete salaries, which likely constitutes the sum Kibyen is demanding.

This financial instability has taken a toll on the Douala-based club, which has suffered back-to-back defeats, losing 3-0 to Gazelle and 2-0 to AS Fortuna.

Kibyen, a former intermediate lion keeper with extensive experience in Cameroon’s top flight, spent three seasons with the Mangwa Boys before joining Union de Douala. Despite his pedigree, he has yet to feature for les Nassarai Kamakai.

Salary disputes had thrown Union de Douala into disarray, causing them to miss the playoffs last season. Consequently, the club retained only a handful of players, with the majority of the squad now comprising new signings.

This season, the issues began even before the championship kicked off, with players protesting over unpaid wages .

Union just like many clubs in cameroon blame their inability to pay players on the absence of state subvention. The douala based side has the lowest budget for an elite one side this year, 120 million, voted on July 28

As Union de Douala prepares for a crucial clash against league leaders Colombe Sportive at Mbappe Leppe, this situation casts a long shadow over their prospects. With authorities yet to respond to Kybien’s demands, the team faces an uphill battle both on and off the pitch.
