Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe won new fans on Sunday, January 18 in Abong Mbang despite their 0-1 defeat to local side Union Sportif of Abong Mbang courtesy of a late Wadkiri Haman for the host.

The Limbe based club was forced to play over an hour of the game with ten men following the dismissal of Akono Mendo Davids in the 33 minute of the game after his stray elbow caught his opponent in the face.

Despite the challenging conditions at the Abong Mbang Municipal Stadium and being down by a player, coach Mbock Maput’s team dominated the game and had some of the best chances and most attempts on goal but met a brilliant Martial Meyangue on goal for Casimir Mangue’s team.

ISOHSA were hoping to get a win and go ahead of Bafmeng United FA who were on standby on the day and pushed for an early goal but Akono was denied by a magical save from Meyangue before Arrey Jefta put his close range effort wide.

Despite the early dominance, the USA side conjured chances of their own but on the quick counters Che Randy reacted as he has done for most of his games this season, stepping out his penalty area to deal with the situation.

Alfred Mbita Nkoma also tested Meyangue but couldn’t beat the experienced stopper. The turning point of the game came in the 33 minute when in reacting to a pull, Akono left a stray elbow on his opponent and the officials settled for a red.

Coach Mbock was forced to adjust his team and bring Jefta and Ghangle Rattensi to a narrower position around and they continued with the exciting interpositional play like nothing happened.

The likes of Mbeng Joel, Ngange Junior, Alfred Mbita, Ashu Brice and even substitutes Etengeneng Patrick were in their best shape on the day and manifested excellence but it wasn’t to be ISOHSA’s day.

The Limbe boys conceded a 77 minute goal when Randy’s great save pushed the ball back into the path of Haman who made the most of it

It took a great save from Randy to deny the host the assurance goal which could have sealed ISOHSA’s first defeat of the season.

The 2024 Cup of Cameroon semi-finalist pushed for the equaliser in the final but couldn’t get as Arrey Jefta and Neba Prosper all came close but couldn’t beat Meyangue.

At the blast of the final whistle the pitch was invaded by home fans who appreciated the display from the host despite their with some rather congratulating the losers for their youthfulness and performance on the day.

The win still leaves ISOHSA in the second position with ten points while Abong Mbang moves up to the third spot with nine points after match day six.

ISOHSA will travel to Yaoundé to face FAP in their next outing while USA will be on standby.
