Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe will begin their 2024 Cup of Cameroon campaign this Wednesday at the Limbe Middle Farms Stadium
The club fresh from completion of a satisfactory first season in the MTN Elite Two championship will face Legends FC of Kumba in a pulsating Southwest derby clash at the Middle Farms stadium.
ISOHSA, who are unbeaten in their past four games and only lost one of its last eight matches will be hoping to maintain that steam against a Legends side also faring well this season in the Southwest Regional championship.
Legends secured their place in the 32nd finals of the Cup of Cameroon courtesy of a 1-0 win against Talented Academy of Muyuka in the last playoff match at the same venue though the losers also qualified as Southwest’s third representative in the competition.
ISOHSA made it to the 16th final in 2022 and the eighth final last season while being in the Southwest Regional League of FECAFOOT. The club in their third season in the competition, will be aiming to get the better of Legends and not fail in their first cup outing as an Elite club.
Besides wanting to get a result, the fixture will also provide an avenue for the club to have a feel of the Middle Farms stadium again whilst its board continues to brainstorm on the strategic decision to move its home to Buea from next season to greater regionalized the project aimed at giving hopes to those who can’t afford the huge fees needed to school in some of the historic football academies across the country.
The 3:00pm kick-off will be the first official meeting of both clubs in any competition though they competed in the same regional championship before ISOHSA’s graduation to the second tier as champions of the region last season.
