Cameroon’s senior women’s National football team, the Indomitable Lionesses, will take on Uganda’s Created Cranes in the first-leg of the second round of the Paris 2024 Olympic games qualification, later this month.
Cameroon was exempted from the first round of the qualifier while coach Ayub Khalifa’s Uganda earned their berth in the second round after eliminating Rwanda in the first round.
According to FIFA sources, coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck’s team is expected in Kampala where they will face the She Cranes on October 26, at the FUFA technical center. The game will be the team’s first after their pre-mature elimination from the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) race, and an opportunity to restore its pride as a lead team on the continent.
The return-leg game will be played five days later in Cameroon – with the aggregate winner to progress in the third round of the qualifier.
The clash will provide a rare meeting of both national teams a chance for Uganda to dream of a first Olympic qualification while Cameroon looks to return to the competition for the first time since London 2012.
Coach Bisseck is expected to name his squad to enter camp for the qualifiers in the days ahead.
