Volcan of Noun have emerged champions of the West Regional championship of FECAFOOT following their one-nil win against Sable of Batie at the Kouekong Stadium in Baffoussam this Sunday, courtesy a goal from Houbed Ramadan Ngoube.
The talented midfielder crowned a commanding performance with a strike in the first minute of additional time that ensured for the second season running Volcan of Noun are champions of the region and flag bearers of the West’s vision when the next interpools begin.
Sable who had a great season entered the final as favourites, giving their great season and desire to finally qualify for the national interpools.
Coach Mohamet Karim set up his team to suck up pressure from the sand sand boys and try to catch them on the counter or via set pieces.
Capitalising on their experience of last season, Volcan kept Sable out for the best part of the entire game and even dug deep late on to win it.
Just when both sides were thinking it would be settled via penalties, Volcan made the most of a late corner and their man of the match Ngoube buried it into the net – beating Mohammed Nsangou for the first time in the game.
Volcan held on for the final moments to ensure the ribbons were orange and celebrations followed amongst their diehard fans maintain their bragging rights as the most consistent side in the West Region.
Volcan becomes the first club to qualify for the 2024 national interpools whose venue for the start scheduled for next month is yet to be announced.
