Highly Rated Angel Yondjo Chooses Ambitious Lille Project

Lille have secured the signature of highly-rated Cameroonian striker Angel Yondjo Matah on a contract lasting until 2030, fending off interest from top European clubs

‎Yondjo, a standout for Cameroon’s youth teams, was drawn to Lille by the club’s ambitious project and will initially feature with the Pro 2 squad before pushing for a spot in the first team

Cameroonian wonderkid Angel Yondjo Matah has signed with LOSC Lille on a deal running until 2030, the French club officially announced on July 17, 2025.

The highly sought-after 18-year-old striker,already capped by Cameroon’s youth sides and the Intermediate Lions,opted for Lille after attracting interest from several top European teams, citing the club’s ambitious project as a decisive factor.

‎ Reflecting on his move, Angel Yondjo said, “First, I want to thank LOSC for their trust. I’m thrilled to join this club, and I already feel at home here. I can’t wait to make my mark and help the team reach new heights. I chose the Dogues because their project is ambitious, the journey starts now, allez le LOSC!”

‎The Club president Olivier Létang welcomed Yondjo, highlighting the player’s huge potential: “It’s a great satisfaction for us to sign Angel from such a reputable Cameroonian academy. He’ll initially join our Pro 2 squad to get acclimatized, and depending on his progress, push for a spot in the first team. We’re proud to have beaten stiff competition from all over Europe. Welcome to Lille, Angel!”

‎ With a long-term contract in hand and the backing of both club and management, Yondjo now aims to develop his game, adapt to the intensity of Ligue 1, and eventually break into Lille’s first team, adding firepower to the Dogues’ attacking line for years to come.
