- Harold Moukoudi is out of AEK Anthen’s Europa League game against Brighton
- The defender has been hospitalized after he suffered food poisoning while away with Cameroon
Harold Dersty Moukoudi has been hospitalised in Greece, this after reports emerged he suffered food poisoning while on international duty with Cameroon, two weeks ago.
Kick442.com has gathered from the Sportglitz.net crew that, the defender has spent the past 48 hours in a hospital in Athens as doctors battle to treat him from the bout of food poisoning.
Earlier this month, Moukoudi spent over a week in the national team camp in Yaoundé and later in Garoua, to help Cameroon qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte D’Ivoire.
It appears he may have suffered poisoning while on international duty, but there hasn’t been any clear cut information about the substance he may have consumed, but AEK doctors have it that he suffered poisoning while with the national team.
The 25-year old, who returned to the national team for the first time in over a year partnered Christopher Wooh in the 3-0 win against Burundi, in the final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Garoua.
At the moment, the former Saint Etienne defender is responding to treatment and could be discharged by Thursday evening if all goes as envisaged.
Unfortunately for coach Matías Almeyda, he will have to do without the services of the 2021 AFCON bronze medalist when they travel to the Amex stadium to face Carlos Baleba’s Brighton on match day 1 of the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League despite having him last weekend against Olympiakos.
Moukoudi is in his second season at AEK. He joined last year as a free agent, but quickly adapted quickly, and went on to play a part in their 13th domestic championship triumph.
Before reporting for international duty, he had featured in six games this season, including matches in the UEFA Champions League preliminaries.
