Authentic Ladies approached their game against holders Lekie Filles with a revenge spirit providing a wonderful game in the first Guinnessico of the season Douala team.
In just 56 minutes of play, Hassan Balla’s girls scored four goals to stun their opponents and get an opening day win.
It only took 35 seconds for Océane Nana to fire past Marthe Ongmahan in goal for last season’s champion. Almost 16 minutes later, captain Tim Shalom Nakoma converted a penalty. Incredibly, Authentic led Lékié 2-0. Eight minutes later, new signing Ngo Bilong’s turn in the third. The two sides went into the break on a 3-0 scoreline for the hosts.
After the break, Authentic Ladies’ new recruit Kiki Meva marked her debut with a superb goal in the 54th minute.
The champions, without Ngah Manga and Brenda Tabe, were not to completely dominated. They provided a thrilling finish to the game in the final quarter. Ekoume scored to make it 4-1, while Manga Z. made it 4-2 at the 90+4 minute mark. The much-anticipated Raïssa Nnanga was unable to find a way past Lilian Choumba.
At the final whistle, Authentic Ladies won their first Guinnessico of the season at home in style against last season’s best side, Lékié Football Filles.
Kiki Meva put up a performance earned her the title of Woman Of Guinnessico. Meva, who joins from AS Fortuna, scored six goals last season and in her first outing she scored and provided an assist.
This is the second time Authentic Ladies have won their opening match of the season. Last year, the team still coached by Fagnia Fagnia won 1-0 against FC Ebolowa of Kpoumie Oodou. This season, coached Balla, Authentic Ladies got the better of Stéphane Ndzana’s girls 4-2.
On the second day, Authentic Ladies will face Éclair, runners-up in the previous edition, while Lékié FF will take on AS Awa. Éclair from Sa’a and AS Awa will take on this season’s two newcomers, Dja Sports Academy from Meyomessala and Ita Mbong at the Stade Annexe A and B in Olembe on 22 October.
