The interconnectedness between sports and politics is a veritable leverage for the advancement of Nigeria irrespective of political and socio-cultural differences.

A former Special Adviser on Youth Development to the immediate-past Speaker of the House of Representatives now Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Alhaji Ibrahim Ally-Balogun, popularly known as Ally-B, stated this while speaking on the impact of politics and sports if properly harnessed to keep the society together.

Underscoring the unifying factor of sports especially football in a multi-ethnic setting like Nigeria, the Youth advocate noted that the JAGABAN Street Soccer Championship in the nation’s capital will further embolden the campaign of unity and oneness in nation-building across the country.

The Chief Organizer of the FCT Street Soccer Championship, Rasheed Ola Saraki, who is also the Director of S&S Sporting Concepts appreciated the support of Alhaji Ally-Balogun, stressing that the morale will go a long way in achieving the aims and objectives of the competition across board.

Saraki explained further that the FCT Street Soccer Championship “Tagged” Jagaban Cup” will relish the experience of fans on a five-a-side soccer fiesta called a Futsal game instead of 11 vs 11.

He said, “Instead of 11 vs 11, 5 vs 5 is world-renowned to assist coaches to develop fewer players because of the opportunity it creates for more actions. S&S Sporting Concepts, aims is keen to place players’ interest in a high priority by encouraging them to get together and work within a team and also develop their individual skills.”

According to the organisers, the prize money and the scheduled kick-off date for the competition will be announced at a press conference before the end of March 2024.
