Fauve Azur Elite have appointed 2022 Cameroon manager of the year, Gabriel Haman as their new head coach for the 2024/25 season, kick442.com can report.
The information was made public this Monday by the club’s president, Nya Norbert during the club’s general assembly as the Yaoundé outfit project into the new campaign.
This move marks the return to management for the former Cotonsport of Garoua head coach who was suspended by the record champions 18 months ago.
Coach Haman will replace Anicet Koung who helped the club to a fifth place finish in the MTN Elite One championship last term but has been appointed deputy to Soh Simplice in the technical crew of the Intermediate national team.
Fauve Azur Elite are preparing for their fourth season in the MTN Elite One championship and the acquisition of Gabriel Haman has been seen as a statement of intent from the centre region outfit.
Coach Haman, who reached the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup back in 2021 will now shift his attention to a proper recruitment to fill the void created by the key departures in the squad since the end of the 2023/24 season.
The new MTN Elite One championship season is expected to get underway in October with Fauve Azur Elite being one of the 16-club to compete in the new format championship.
Victoria United FC won the 50-million FCFA MTN Elite One championship last season having opened their campaign with a 2-1 win away to Fauve Azur Elite in the opening game of the season.
