Cameroon midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa delivered a decisive performance as SSC Napoli claimed a 3-1 victory over Inter Milan in a pulsating Serie A clash at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday.

Inter began the match on the front foot, applying early pressure from set pieces, with Bastoni heading just over twice (9’, 41’) and Lautaro Martinez testing the target in the 15th minute.

Napoli responded through a VAR-awarded penalty, converted by Kevin De Bruyne in the 33rd minute, giving the hosts a crucial lead after Inter had been forced into an early midfield change (Mkhitaryan off, Zielinski on 32’).

After the interval, Napoli’s midfield — marshaled by Zambo Anguissa — seized control of the game. Scott McTominay doubled the lead on 54’ with a composed low finish, but Inter were quickly back in it when Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty at 59’ to make it 2-1.

It was Zambo Anguissa who put Napoli back in command. The Cameroonian midfielder showcased his experience and composure in the area, finishing confidently from David Neres’ assist in the 67th minute to restore the two-goal cushion. His goal not only sealed the win but highlighted his growing influence in Napoli’s engine room, combining defensive discipline with attacking intelligence.

Inter pressed late, bringing on Luis Henrique, Frattesi, and Sucic in the 73rd minute and even earning a headed chance in stoppage time for Esposito, but Napoli’s backline, supported by Anguissa’s midfield control, held firm. The hosts were clinical, with three different midfielders finding the net, while supply from Spinazzola and Neres proved decisive.

The win lifts Napoli to 18 points from eight games, moving them to the top of the Serie A table and ending Inter’s four-match winning streak. For Zambo Anguissa, the performance cements his status as a vital cog in Antonio Conte’s side, demonstrating why he remains one of Serie A’s most influential midfielders and a key figure for the Cameroon national team.

“Frank brings balance and personality to the team. When he performs like this, Napoli controls the game,” Conte said after the match.

With Zambo orchestrating the midfield and scoring at a crucial moment, Napoli sent a strong statement to their rivals: they are serious title contenders this season.
