Speculation surrounding Cameroonian midfielder Yvan Neyou and a potential return to CD Leganés has been definitively quashed. Contrary to circulating rumors, the move was never seriously considered—neither by the player nor by the Segunda División side.
Neyou is currently under contract with Getafe, where he has struggled to secure consistent playing time. The club is reportedly keen to offload him as part of efforts to reduce its wage bill this winter, but a return to Leganés is not an option.
The primary obstacle is financial. With an annual salary exceeding €1 million, Neyou’s wages are far beyond what a second-division club like Leganés could realistically afford, making the move impossible from a budgetary standpoint.
For Leganés, which has been exploring reinforcements this transfer window, the situation removes one potential option from their list. Meanwhile, Neyou’s next destination remains uncertain, with both parties needing to explore alternatives that make sense both on the field and financially.
While the Leganés chapter is now officially closed, the coming weeks could still see Neyou move elsewhere as Getafe looks to streamline its squad. Fans will have to wait and see where the midfielder lands next.
