Yvan Neyou played a telling role on Sunday to help La Liga newcomers Leganes beat Las Palmas by a narrow 2-1 margin to follow up their draw last weekend with a victory this time around.
Second half goals from Juan Cruz and Enric Franquesa deep into regulation time was met by one reply from Sandro deep into additional time as the hosts obtained maximum points at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
Neyou, who lasted the duration of the game provided the assist for the second goal to in his second start of the season and helped his side keep a firm grip of the midfield.
Though it was a nervy finale, coach Borja Jimenez’s team held their grounds to ensure that they prevent a late equaliser though Las Palmas had a number of late opportunities.
The win for Leganes put the club on the sixth spot with four points from two La Liga outings so far.
Leganes will travel to Valladolid on match day three this Wednesday, hoping to maintain their strong start in the championship while the hosts hope to return to winning ways after falling to Real Madrid 3-0 a week after they won their opening game of the season.
