Achico Football Academy of Bamenda have been crowned champions of the National Youth Tournament in the U-15 category while their U-17 squad finished runner-up in their category.
Achico FA Bamenda defeated Best Stars Academy of Limbe 2#1 to grab the U-15 trophy.
The young lads from Bamenda took the lead as early as the 5th minute of play. However, Best Stars equalized few minutes later. In the second half, Achico FA scored from the penalty spot to grab a 2#1 victory.
In the U-17 category, Achico FA Bamenda was up again against CFF of Garoua.
With both teams heading for penalties, the referee awarded a controversial penalty to CFF Garoua as they scored to claim the U-17 trophy.
The performance of Achico Football Academy of Bamenda in the tournament in both categories proves the fact that youth football is advancing in the region despite the lack of infrastructure.
