Yoane Claude Elong Bebey has been appointed the General Coordinator of this Thursday’s final match between Nigeria and Ghana to mark the end of the 2023 All Africa Games (AAGs) in women’s Football.
Elong who participated in the UNIFFAC U-20 Women’s tournament last month in Douala was included in the team of officials for the medal match released on Tuesday.
The former Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon team manager is the overall match coordinator in charge of logistics and organisational aspects of the final game.
Côte D’Ivoire’s Natacha Gerardine Konan has been picked as the Referee of the game while Sakina Hamidou Alfa from Niger, Alice Umutesi from Rwanda are the first and second assistant Referees respectively.
Raya Sisay from Ethiopia will play the role of the game’s fourth official as Jodie Marian Reid Seton from Liberia is the Match Commissioner while legendary Referee Janny Sikazwe from Zambia serves as Referee Assessor.
Nigerian duo Oluchi Ngozi Tobe Chukwu and Odochi Joan Efughu are the Media and Security officers of the game respectively.
Nigeria who edged Uganda 2-0 in the semi-final is in the running to defend the crown they won in Morocco in 2020 while Ghana outclassed Senegal 3-1 in their penultimate game of this edition of the competition to stay in the running for Gold.
The final Match of the competition will kick-off at 8pm this Thursday at the Cape Coast stadium in Ghana.
Elong will not win a medal for Cameroon but to have her in the mix is a major win if after the competition she gets the chance to invest her experience at home.
